Why Invest?

Why invest in the Southern Downs?

Abundant land for development

The Southern Downs’ temperate weather and fertile land has produced a thriving agricultural sector: broadacre grain farming, high-efficiency grazing and feeding lots, horticulture, hydroponics and animal products such as wool.

Land for production is available with low construction costs and experienced commercial and industrial builders. Purchasing opportunities are available in Warwick and Stanthorpe for appropriately zoned industrial land. These can be used to construct custom-designed complexes, suitable for a range of business operations.

Both Warwick and Stanthorpe also have strong retail offerings and there are commercial properties available for sale in both CBDs. Both centres have a number national brand outlets, discount department stores and a range of boutique speciality shops.

Home to a skilled workforce

Southern Downs has a large and vibrant employment market over 17,000 strong. The convenient access to Australia’s major population centres provides additional eligible workers and skilled labour. For example, nearby Toowoomba offers another 60,000 workers. The region has four employment agencies, operating across a range of specialist fields, including hospitality, logistics, manufacturing, legal and administration.
