The Southern Downs provides excellent roads and transport infrastructure for commerce and is strategically located at the junction of the New England and Cunningham Highways. These and other road networks are constantly being improved. From Warwick, there are fast, direct-road links to Brisbane (2 hours), Sydney (10 hours) and Melbourne (20 hours).
The Southern Downs Regional Council operates two aerodromes, one in Stanthorpe and the other in Warwick. They are both available for charter services, couriering, tourism and business purposes.
Warwick has direct rail links eastward to Brisbane, via Toowoomba. The region is also under consideration for a proposed Melbourne-Brisbane inland rail link, which would provide direct access to the southern markets and open up the area further as an economic thoroughfare.
