The Southern Downs will welcome a special visitor this week when the Queensland Minister for Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs, the Hon Stirling Hinchliffe, arrives in the region.
Minister Hinchliffe will visit Warwick and Stanthorpe on Wednesday, April 11, to open a number of recently completed projects funded by the Works for Queensland Program (W4Q).
The 2017–19 W4Q program budget totals $200 million delivered over two years and supports regional councils to undertake job-creating maintenance and minor infrastructure projects.
Southern Downs Regional Council has recently completed major W4Q funded projects:
· Fitzroy Street rehabilitation and stabilisation, Warwick.
· Kenilworth Street Upgrade, Warwick
· Schnitzerling Street Upgrade, Warwick.
· Connolly Dam to Morgan Park raw water pipeline, Warwick
· Connolly Dam to Morgan Park sewer works, Warwick
· Fromes Lane, Stanthorpe
Minister Hinchliffe will also be on hand to turn the sod on the Storm King Dam Pipeline Replacement project.
